1. I have examined the accompanying Ordinance intituled an

Ordinance to amend the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1369.

A print of the memorandum of Objects and Reasons

of the Bill for this Ordinance is attached.

3. The suggestions of the Secretary of State in his

despatch Hong Kong No. 308 of the 9th August, 1939, have

been adopted and incorporated in the provisions of this

Ordinance.

4. I am of opinion that the Ordinance is not contrary

to the Governor's instructions and that it is one to which

liis Excellency may properly assent in the name of lis

Majesty and on His behalf.
